Sentinel Commisioning Ceremony
A ceremony was held in Old Sacramento on December 19th to commission the Department’s newest state-of-the-art research vessel. Director Mark Cowin dedicated the R/V Sentinel in memory of DWR’s Chief Deputy Director Laura King Moon who passed away in 2015. The vessel will play a critical role in monitoring and research in the San Francisco Estuary and Delta to better understand estuarine processes, and to document compliance with State Water Resources Control Board Water Right Decision D-1641.
