Delta Town Hall Meetings
On June 23rd, 24th and 25th , the Resources Agency will host Town Hall-style meetings to discuss major projects and programs in the Delta. Some of the major programs ongoing in the Delta include Delta Vision, the Bay-Delta Conservation Plan and EIR/S, FloodSafe California, Delta emergency response planning, Delta Risk Management and various habitat restoration efforts. Public Policy Institute Recommends Peripheral Canal
According to a report released today by the Public Policy Institute of California, building a peripheral canal to carry water around the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is the most promising strategy to balance two critical policy goals: reviving a threatened ecosystem and ensuring a high-quality water supply for California's residents.The report was prepared by PPIC and five scientists from UC Davis, and builds on a report they published in 2007 that proposed nine different alternatives for improving the Delta's ecosystem and water supply reliability.

Delta Town Hall Meeting Summaries
At the end of June, the Resources Agency hosted three Town Hall meetings in the Delta to discuss the various major programs and projects under way throughout the Delta. DWR workshops to brief local agencies on levee reporting website
The Department of Water Resources Flood Project Integrity and Inspection Branch will host a series of workshops in August for local government agencies. The sessions will focus on a new electronic web application to help local agencies with their levee reporting requirements. This application has been designed to provide access to flood control system information and to help agencies file levee reports required by Assembly Bill 156. The workshops will be held at the DWR Joint Operations Center in Sacramento.

Landowner meetings held for BDCP EIR/EIS
As part of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP), the Department of Water Resources (DWR) is preparing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to study alternatives for ecosystem restoration and water conveyance options. DWR will be holding six meetings for Delta landowners on August 12-14 and August 19-21 in Galt, Lathrop, Antioch, Walnut Grove, Rio Vista and Stockton to discuss the upcoming survey work with potentially affected landowners.

The Department of Water Resources held meetings for Delta landowners in Galt, Lathrop, Antioch, Walnut Grove, Rio Vista and Stockton to discuss upcoming survey work for the environmental review of the BDCP. To support the Environmental Impact Report / Environmental Impact Statement, DWR must do field studies on certain parcels of private property in identified Delta conveyance study areas. All Question and Answer Summaries and materials presented are now available on the BDCP EIR/EIS website.

Delta Vision posts final Implementation Report
The Delta Vision Committee has submitted its final implementation report to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger with recommended actions on how the California Delta should be managed to fulfill its equal goals of water supply reliability and ecosystem restoration. The plan sets priorities based on the Delta Vision Strategic Plan developed by the Governor's Delta Vision Blue Ribbon Task Force. The document has been posted on the Delta Vision website.
