Meet the overall water quality needs of the Department

Provide a central focal point for the collection and dissemination of water quality information.

Environmental Water Quality and Estuarine Studies

• Document the environmental water quality conditions affected by operation of the SWP and the federal Central Valley Project
• Implement the Bay-Delta Environmental Monitoring Program
• Implement the Interagency Ecological Program
• Implement various water quality programs

Municipal Water Quality Program

• Determine and examine the sources of constituents that effect drinking water quality of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta
• Provide information necessary for planning Delta water quality improvements

Bryte Chemical Laboratory

• As the Department's primary analytical laboratory, analyze drinking water, surface water, groundwater, and wastewater

State Water Project Water Quality Program

• Provide the water quality information necessary for operational needs of both the SWP and the State Water Contractors
• Identify opportunities to provide the best water quality possible
